Air Conditioner Buyer’s Guide

As the summer temperatures raises, ice cream easily melt and spoil your day. These results give you an idea to: 1) eat ice cream that instantly melt; or, 2) avail of an air conditioner. But, since air conditioner is much cheaper than treating frostbite, availing an air condition is a good choice.

Choosing a good air conditioner should not be a disturbing experience. To avoid such, it is better to have some guidelines to choose good quality air conditioner.

Be aware that some people say that an air conditioner consists of only two parts - a condenser and an evaporator coil. A blower is actually the one that forces the cooled air out into the room.

Here are the things to be considered before purchasing an air conditioner:

What type of air conditioner do you need?

Air conditioning system comprises of two kinds: one is the unit air conditioner and the other is the central cooling system. On one hand, the unit air conditioner is the type that matches best the small houses, studios or apartments which usually cost $ 150 to $250. The central cooling system on the other hand needs a bigger budget since it is more expensive than the unit air conditioner, and which costs up to thousands of dollars.

Where do you need it?

Unit air conditioner is a good choice but, first consider the place where the unit is going to be placed. Select a room that is linked to a space near an open door or archway. The two rooms will constitute one room when trying to buy an air conditioner. Purchase an air conditioner capable enough to circulate air for the size of both rooms. Remember to determine how many square feet of the area the air conditioner is going to keep cool.

An air conditioner will not work when placed in a curving hallway to keep bedroom at the other end of the hall at 65°F.

Measure the room and window

Remember to measure entire room area where the air conditioner is going to be placed by computing its height, weight and length and the dimension of the window where the unit will be mounted. Otherwise, you will end up irritated by not getting the type of air conditioner that matches your room.
